My memories of Morgan centre around him being so funny, more often than not unintentionally.
From his tight pants, to his Gowings hair cut, to his velour suit which he was so proud of and which he finally got to wear when he went to the Walkleys, he was always himself and always hilarious.
I've never met anyone with an ability to talk about the smallest things with as much enthusiasm, or as many superlatives, as Morgan.
He called me on his way out of a 'Wolfmother' concert a few years ago, and the way he talked about the band, it was as if he had transcended through space and time and come out on the other side very drunk and in love with the lead singer.
As on that night, he could drink an enormous amount, but would always end up at work the next day with his miracle hang-over cure, chocolate milk.

Two forces co-existed pretty comfortably within Morgan - he was a hopeless romantic in a lot of ways, he talked about his heart with ease, and his feelings about past loves. But he was also the biggest flirt of all time, and could justify conquest after conquest as living life to the fullest.
His love-life advice ranged from accurate to sketchy to downright sleazy, but it was always classic. When he last came back to Australia around Christmas, we went out for a beer and he was encouraging my brother, who had fallen for a girl, to take her to a Vince Jones concert, preferably at the Basement, give her lots of drinks, then sit down, shut up and let Vince do all the work.
According to Morgan this strategy had a 100 per cent success rate and he was thinking about thanking Vince personally. If this didn't work, his second suggestion was to invite her over to his place, cook risotto (one of the only dishes Morgs could make), get her to stir the dish then come up behind her and 'help' her stir it. He was very cheeky, but completely honest about it, and it was impossible to stay mad at him because he was so excited about everything.

Morgan lacked the self doubt that usually exists within the rest of us, the sort that stops us from living our dreams. He believed that anything was possible, and made sure all his friends knew that they could achieve whatever they wanted.
His unflinching belief in his own ability was complimented by his swaggering, easygoing manner. He would take any opportunity to put his feet up and enjoy the day.
I helped him work on the Gerard coverage yet I was still staggered when I read the stories the next day to find that he had managed to do so much work. I just don't know how he could come to work later than everyone else, go out for long lunches, plan overseas trips, chase girls, and file a damn good story all in the one day. For someone who was so laid-back, he was exceptional at multi-tasking!

I'll miss Morgan very much, but I feel most profoundly for his family at this time and hope that one day things won't hurt so much.
