In the years that we all worked together with Morgan on the SMH business desk he often talked of his relationship with you, his treasured mother. He loved to head off to the bush to visit you at weekends, so devoted and protective. He wore his love for you and his sisters on his sleeve.

To Morgan: For a while I've been half convinced you'll just come sauntering through the door with that casual, cheeky half-grin on your dial. Just like that dreadful Sydney to Hobart when you called, casual as you like, to say of course She's Apples II had turned off at Eden, did I think they were crazy?

You left lasting impressions with Rodney Adler and Robert Gerrard amongst others - a true service to shareholders and the wider population - something few in the game manage to do as effectively, precisely and effortlessly as you did.

For so long you were not quite comfortable with the idea of "settling down" - the past little while you've fed that travel bug as you hungered to - good on you my friend, in the end no compromises, you lived your true dream.
